Key findings

In 2015, there were 68 cases of discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity, race or skin colour (23,9%) and 12 cases of discrimination on the grounds of religion (4,2%) reported to Ombudsman Office. Out of 31 recorded hate crimes in 2015, in 22 cases bias motivation was ethnicity and/or religion (data is not segregated) and there was one recorded case with the bias motivation of race and skin colour. When speaking of the international protection seekers, the report states that there are 177 persons with granted status in 2015 and only 13 of them are employed.

Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)

The analysis and the assessment of the state of affairs for 2015 reflect 4.655 cases the Office of Ombudsman has received during the year. In addition to citizen complaints, the report is based on information gathered through daily co-operation with stakeholders and field visits, media releases and data provided to us by the state institutions and other public bodies, social partners, religious communities, civil society organizations and many others.
